“The Ollie That Went Too Far”
It’s a perfect afternoon at Skyliner City’s skatepark. The sun shines, the air smells faintly of rubber and spilled soda, and Evan “No Fear” Jenkins is ready to nail the ollie of his life. He’s hyped himself up all morning, fueled by three energy drinks and the unshakable confidence of someone who’s watched exactly one tutorial online.
His target? The Big Rail, a menacing steel beast that’s seen its share of glory and destruction. “This is it,” Evan mutters to himself, adjusting his grip on his pristine Jellyface board. “Today, I become a legend.”
He pushes off, building speed, his friends cheering (and filming) from a safe distance. His heart pounds as he approaches the rail. The ramp looms. He crouches, ready to pop the ollie. And then—it happens.
Evan does ollie. His board leaves the ground, soaring majestically for half a second. But instead of landing smoothly on the rail, his back truck clips the edge. The board flips sideways, and Evan, now airborne, experiences what he later describes as “an out-of-body experience.”
Time slows. His board clatters to the side, while Evan spirals mid-air, arms flailing like an inflatable tube man. He lands—not on the rail, not on the pavement, but smack in the middle of an empty trash can, his knees folded up like a human pretzel.
For a moment, there’s silence. Then, the laughter starts. His friends double over, tears streaming down their faces as Evan wiggles free from the trash can, now wearing a banana peel like a hat.
“Did… did you get that on video?” he groans, brushing off bits of lettuce.
“Oh, we got it,” someone chokes out, holding up their phone. Evan sighs. He may not have nailed the ollie, but at least he’s internet famous now.
