“The Great Shield-Off”
At Shieldsmith Academy, rivalries ran hotter than the forges. The grand hall, lined with colorful shields from every clan, sparked endless debates. The blues bragged about their shield’s speed, the reds claimed theirs packed the most power, and the yellows swore nothing could break theirs. One afternoon, those arguments boiled over.
Lars from the Blue Clan kicked it off. “Our shields deflect anything—even your weak throws, Red Clan!” Fenn of the Reds slammed his shield to the ground. “Prove it!” he yelled, pointing dramatically.
In seconds, chaos erupted. Fenn hurled his shield like a frisbee, aiming for Lars, but it veered straight into a broom closet. Lars retaliated by rolling his shield across the floor like a wheel, but it toppled over and took out the academy’s prized trophy stand. The Yellow Clan, always pragmatic, hopped onto their shields and slid down the hall steps like sleds, knocking over anyone in their path.
The Green Clan took it up a notch. They turned their shields into catapults, launching clouds of flour stolen from the kitchen. Students stumbled, coughing and laughing, as the hall filled with white powder. Shields clanged off walls, bounced off heads, and slid across the floor in every direction. At one point, a Yellow shield rider collided with Fenn mid-argument, sending both into the snack table with a spectacular crash.
By the end, the grand hall looked like a battlefield of flour, spilled juice, and scattered shields. No clan could claim victory, but everyone doubled over laughing. The headmaster stormed in, his glare silencing the room. “Well,” he said, surveying the disaster, “at least you’re practicing… something.”
