Description
“The Test of the Green Flame”
Legends say the Green Flame doesn’t test strength or skill—it tests resolve. The tales are whispered in hushed tones by those who’ve glimpsed the daring souls brave enough to try. Warriors, rogues, and even wizards have ventured to prove their worth, all chasing the same prize: glory, riches, or just a chance to leave their name etched in history.
The challenge is simple enough to explain: enter the dungeon, face its trials, and emerge alive. Yet, it’s the way the Green Flame tests each adventurer that makes the stories so chillingly bizarre. For one, the flame burned away his greed, leaving him richer in spirit but clutching nothing but soot. Another, a famed thief, returned empty-handed, muttering about shadows that whispered truths he wasn’t ready to hear.
Then there was Grindle the Boastful, a bard known for his loud mouth and louder lute. He entered with a jaunty tune, promising to conquer the flame with “nothing but charm and cheek.” When he stumbled out three days later, his lute strings were melted, and his hair stood on end. “It’s not about the prize,” he muttered, clutching his singed hat. “It’s what the flame sees in you.”
Some claim the flame doesn’t burn; it reveals. It doesn’t scorch; it judges. While the unworthy crawl away with their tails between their legs, a few emerge triumphant, not because they conquered the dungeon, but because they conquered themselves.
Even now, adventurers line up, each believing they’ll be the one to solve its mysteries. For the Green Flame is not just a test—it’s a challenge. And those who face it, no matter the result, always have a story to tell.
